The Wedding Date by Jasmine Guillory

The Wedding Date by Jasmine Guillory
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

This should be called Sex, Pastries, and Poor Communication. Every time I picked up this book, I put it down wanting to go workout and then take a shower.

The characters are realistic, but maybe a little too realistic. Their romance is only slightly unconventional and the obstacles they face are standard. Nothing surprising happens and the suspense is minimal, but I kept going back to it, anyway.

Somehow, it manages to be cute and trite without being totally clueless. I like that it is about an interracial couple and it doesn’t pretend that it isn’t. Also, the female protagonist doesn’t need to be saved in any way, but that might be the way romance novels are written these days. I haven’t read this kind of romance novel in a couple of decades.
