4.75 out of 5. I liked this one better than the first one. It’s been a long time since I’ve regularly read books in a series. I’ve started a few this year to see if I’d like them. This particular series is making me appreciate the beauty of a long series. It’s more than just a really long story. It climbs into both the characters and the plot in a way that wouldn’t be possible in a shorter form. I don’t think Maggie Stiefvater gets nearly enough recognition for her ability to put words on a page. Instead of making the world or plot overly complicated or dramatic, she uses the space to give her themes a lot of breathing room. It’s quite beautiful.
